Renaissance

medicifamily.jpeg

The Renaissance was first represented through the movement of humanism which began after the Dark Ages. It began in Italy around the 14th century and ended around the early 17th century. The main ideas behind the Renaissance included human nature, syncretism, the dignity of man, and the rebirth of human wisdom and spirit. Humanism encouraged the idea that human achievements in arts, science, and literature should be praised and celebrated, which helped the movement spread across Europe. In addition to Humanism, the foundation of the Renaissance was funded by the Medici Family, who ruled over Florance for more than 60 years. The city of Florence was filled with a rich cultural background thanks to the Medici Family, and they not only funded the movement but also supported growing artists in this era such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo. Altogether, the Medici Family, along with the start of the Humanism movement, helped establish the Renaissance era in the 14th century, shaping a large cultural impact on European art, literature, and architecture.
